Depression:
Depression rates in the U.S. today are staggering. A Boston University study reveals that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, about 8.5% of U.S. adults were depressed. After the pandemic began, the rate went up to 28%, and in 2021 it reached 33%. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that depression is the leading cause of disability in the U.S. for people aged 15-44. Some people get relief from prescription medications such as Prozac and Zoloft. Sadly, many others who are depressed do not derive much benefit from either prescription drugs or talk therapy. We offer ketamine therapy for depression at our Sandy, Utah, facility.
Symptoms of depression include:
- Pervasive sadness
- Sleeping more or less than usual
- Avoiding interactions with others
- A feeling of fogginess and trouble making decisions
- Loss of interest in hobbies or events you previously enjoyed
- Trouble concentrating and completing tasks
- Trouble regulating emotions
- Eating a lot more or less than usual
- Physical aches and pains
- Decreased interest in the activities of daily living such as showering
- Suicidal thoughts
Anxiety:
Anxiety
Anxiety in the U.S. has been up and down during the pandemic, rising to a height of 37% and dropping to a low of 25%. Anxiety drugs can be helpful, but some people do not like the side effects. The goal of seeking help for anxiety is to feel better and be able to function, but anxiety drugs often make people feel so sleepy and foggy that they are unable to work, drive or even socialize. At our facility in Sandy, Utah, we help patients get their lives back by administering ketamine treatment for anxiety.
Symptoms of anxiety include:
- Nervousness, restlessness and tension
- Sweating
- Heart palpitations
- Racing pulse
- Shortness of breath
- Trembling
- Nausea
- Inability to sleep
- Trouble concentrating
PTSD/Military PTSD:
Post-traumatic stress disorder can result from many kinds of traumas. It is often associated with military service, but it is also known to happen after rape, abuse and other violent events. Those who suffer from PTSD find it almost impossible to function because they are unable to escape from the event that triggered their PTSD. Sufferers often come to us as a last resort and finally find relief with ketamine therapy.
Symptoms of PTSD include:
- Nightmares
- Flashbacks to the event
- Severe anxiety
- Trouble sleeping
- Delusions
- Extreme irritability
- Violent outbursts
